May was chosen by the Stroke Association as the month of annual awareness on Stroke and the effects that this disease has on patients and their families, to spread awareness on the signs and symptoms post-stroke, which are the possible causes, and what to do if the disease is in progress and in the post-acute phase.
We take this opportunity to share a work recently published by the IRCCS Neurolesi team of Messina with our NIRVANA system, which reports the effects of a virtual reality rehabilitation treatment during functional recovery in stroke patients.
The results of their research have been published in the international journal “International Journal of Neuroscience“.
Based on these preliminary data, a neuro-rehabilitative approach based on an immersive reality system, such as NIRVANA, can be considered a useful complementary treatment to enhance functional recovery in patients suffering from stroke, in particular with regard to attention, visuo-spatial deficits and motor function.
