It is with pleasure that we share an interesting study conducted by the University of Cagliari in collaboration with the Center for Cognitive Disorders and Dementias of the ASL of Cagliari which highlights how the smoothness of gait, assessed by our inertial sensor G-WALK, is reduced in the elderly affected by dementia in its early and advanced cognitive decline.
The results of the study highlight how the gait analysis may allow a detection of even slight gait pattern changes present since the early-stages of dementia.
Therefore, these data may support the clinicians both in carrying out a more accurate diagnosis of cognitive impairments, and in verifying the effectiveness of all the interventions aimed at overcoming any possible limitation in mobility in the elderly with dementia.
We thank dr. Massimiliano Pau and all his team who have always carried out a valuable research work aimed at providing insights related to different cases.
