We have recently installed a complete sport lab at the Rypolly y de Prado center of Madrid, accredited as FIFA Center of Excellence for surgery and sports rehabilitation. During the opening, dr. Javier Núñez, sports physician and head of the laboratory, gave an interview for the sports newspaper Marca, explaining how the BTS technology will be used within the clinical practice of the center.
The laboratory is made up of 6 optoelectronic cameras for movement 3D reconstruction, 2 force platforms for movement dynamic analysis and 8 EMG sensors for the evaluation of the athlete’s muscle activity.
Thanks to the use of these systems, the center will revolutionize the approach in the athlete evaluation that will be monitored not only from a metabolic point of view (blood tests, nutrition), but also in the biomechanical part.
“As for joints, this technology is the most analytical existing one allowing an accurate evaluation of all joint parameters, muscle mobility and function related to a specific movement” dr. Javier Núñez explains.
The result of the systematic use of the lab on all athletes treated will be to get a database that allow an in-depth study of the possible joint and muscle imbalances in order to improve the post-surgery rehabilitation, and that can be used in injury prevention and to evaluate the result of surgery interventions.
The Rypoll y de Prado center joins with several centers that already use our technology for the athletes evaluation for surgery and recovery in sports field.
To support and be alongside professionals of this field that intervene on top level athletes is for us source of pride and satisfaction.
