Last week we talked about the importance of instrumental assessment in the planning of pediatric rehabilitation at the National Center of Children Neurorehabilitation Dr. Nicolae Robanescu (Centrul De Recuperare Neuropsihomotorie Copii Dr. Nicolae Robanescu), Bucharest, Romania, hospital specialized in pediatric rehabilitation.
Thanks to the evidence of Dr. Anca Grigoriu, engaged in the study of the gait evolution in pediatric children up to the age of adolescence, the participants were able to know how for this center – unique in Romania – the activities in the GAITLAB, the complete laboratory for movement analysis, has played a crucial role in improving the therapeutic approach related to walking disorders in children and adolescents with neurological diseases.
The multifactorial analysis of the gait in particular provided an objective assessment tool to further investigate walking problems during the child growth and to follow up on the gait evolution in progressive neuromuscular diseases. Moreover, it provided a better management of therapy recommendations being able to quantify the therapeutic effects on the parameters.
We thank all those who participated in the workshops and Physiomed Romania for the collaboration, involvement and constant study of issues like this that are still little investigated.
