Great success for 2017 ICBMC (International Conference on Biomechanics in Human Movement and clinical Translation) held last week at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China). The event was entirely focused on how the surface electromyographic (sEMG) activity could be used to develop a clinical method for evaluating gait disabilities in children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). With surface EMG it is possible to detect simultaneously the activity of different muscles and this is an important aspect to analyze children gait; another essential feature of this tool concerns the information about muscular coordination. During the Congress different methods for the elaboration of the surface EMG signal and how this could be reported for a better understanding and interpretation of the patient’s disease were presented.
