Vision does not necessarily stabilize the head in space during continuous postural perturbations
The study examines how vision affects head stabilization during standing balance perturbations. It finds that head oscillations are smaller with eyes open, particularly when focusing on a fixed text. Contrary to traditional views, vision doesn’t always stabilize the head during balance tasks, suggesting potential new approaches for treating balance problems.
