An Innovative Vision in Pediatric Rehabilitation

Inaugurated on May 13, 1999, the Centro de Rehabilitación e Inclusión Infantil Teletón Estado de México (CRIT) is part of a network of 24 Teletón Centers across Mexico. Since its foundation, it has become an innovative reference point in the field of pediatric rehabilitation, offering comprehensive care to children, adolescents, and adults with neuromusculoskeletal disabilities.

The center combines medical excellence with an inclusive philosophy, creating a space where science, technology, and empathy come together to promote functional recovery and social participation.

Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory

Established in 2000, the Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory was the first of its kind in Mexico and has since become a national benchmark in the functional assessment of human movement. Equipped with advanced technology, the laboratory conducts complete biomechanical evaluations based on 3D motion capture models using a system of 8 SMART-DX cameras, 6 P-6000 force platforms, FREEEMG 20-channel electromyography, and PTZ video cameras.

This integrated setup allows specialists to accurately measure and analyze:

  • Joint kinetics and kinematics of the lower and upper limbs
  • Gait and upper limb movement patterns
  • Progress and effectiveness of physiotherapeutic treatments
  • Performance of orthoses and prostheses
  • Pre- and post-surgical evaluations for personalized clinical follow-up

Thanks to this infrastructure, the CRIT team can obtain precise data in real time, supporting evidence-based clinical decisions and optimizing therapeutic interventions.

The Teletón Model: Multidisciplinary and Inclusive

The CRIT’s success lies in its unique model based on four fundamental pillars: interdisciplinarity, family involvement, technological innovation, and social inclusion. Within this model, physicians, physiotherapists, orthopedists, psychologists, and neurologists work collaboratively—often in the same shared environment—to design integrated therapeutic plans focused on the specific needs of each patient.

This approach not only enhances clinical outcomes but also encourages the active participation of families, who play a key role in the rehabilitation process and in the long-term success of treatment.

A Legacy of Science, Inclusion, and Hope

With nearly 25 years of continuous operation, the CRIT Estado de México remains committed to integrating science and humanity through the use of advanced robotic and analytical technologies, a highly qualified multidisciplinary team, and an inclusive philosophy accessible to all.

As a model of excellence in Latin America, the center exemplifies how innovation and inclusion can work hand in hand to transform the lives of thousands of children, adolescents, and families, reaffirming Teletón’s mission of building a more equitable and compassionate society.
